William Dann Obituary

William "Bill" E. Dann, age 54, of Madison, Ohio, formerly of Erie, Pa., passed away Friday, April 8, 2016, at University Hospital in Cleveland. He was born in Erie, on September 21, 1961, a son of the late John E. "Jack" Dann, Jr. and Linda P. (Mack) Dann.

Bill worked as a welder at Erie General Electric for 27 years. He served in the U.S. Navy then went on to serve as a Seabee in the Naval Reserves where he retired as a Chief Petty Officer. Bill was also a volunteer fireman in Fairview, Pa.

He enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandkids. He was a light for many people and loved making them laugh with his sense of humor. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. For many years, Bill was also a regular platelet donor. He enjoyed golfing, learning to play the banjo and attending an annual trip to hunting camp.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Steven Dann.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy (Collier) Dann, whom he married on November 13, 2010; five children, Christopher Dann, wife Kisha, Townville, Pa., Timothy, Leslie and Jeffrey Dann, all of Fairview, Pa., and Krista Bellino of Charleston, S.C.; two sisters, Cynthia Berarducci, husband Keith, of Erie, Pa. and Melissa Proper, North East, Pa.; his father-in-law, Thomas Collier, of Brunswick, Ohio; sisters-in-law, Susan D'Angelo and Kristen Collier, both of Brunswick, Ohio; two grandchildren, Nikolai and Ana Dann; a niece; and four nephews.

Friends may call Thursday from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th Street, at Greengarden Boulevard, and may attend a prayer service there Friday at 9:15 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Peace Church at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Leukemia And Lymphoma Society or The Wounded Warrior Project.

Just learned of Bill's passing. Dan and I were friends when he moved to Union City briefly. After he moved to Erie with his family we lost touch but ended up enlisting in the Navy and going to boot camp together as part of the Buffalo Bills Special Recruit Company. To the family of Bill, I'm so sorry for your loss. I broke in billy when he came to GE bldg 12 as a main cab welder back in 1989. I'll remember him as a big kid with a big heart and funny personality. This is so sad, way to young. RIP bill, I'll never forget you.
