He was born July 19, 1939 in Cumberland, Md., a son of Edward M. Rose and Anna C. Schlossnagel Rose Aylsworth. He married Gail L. Carr September 7, 1963, and she survives.

He was a 1957 graduate of Meadville High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1958-1961. He worked as an auto mechanic, first at Walker Brothers in Edinboro, then Griffin Motors and Weber Harris in Meadville. He then taught the auto mechanic program at the Crawford County Career and Technical Center for 15 years, before retiring in the late 1990s. He enjoyed Sprint car racing with his son-in-law, Tim Barr. He also enjoyed NASCAR racing, motorcycle riding, and attending Street Rod Shows. He was a charter member of the Street Rods of N/W Pennsylvania. He was a proud grandpa when his grandson, Dante, came into their lives.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of UPMC Hamot MICU unit for the wonderful care he received and the staff and members of Meadville Ambulance Service and Saegertown Vol. Fire Department for their care, support, and assistance.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, Gail, of 52 years, include: a daughter, Jodi Barr and her husband, Tim of Saegertown; a grandson, Dante Barr; his mother, Anna C. Aylsworth of Meadville; a step-sister, Connie Handy and her husband, Rich of Meadville; a step-brother, Jack Aylsworth and his wife, Kathleen of California; two brothers-in-law, Gary Carr and his wife, Lois of Meadville and Kenny Carr and his wife, Phyllis of Saegertown; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

Gail:I was so sorry to hear about Butch's passing-that was hard to hear that news. I was so touched by your message to me about Butch...thank you so much for that note. So happy that we got to have a long friendship, that started through the Sedan Delivery. Perhaps we will get to meet again, should you continue to travel to the car shows...or maybe I will stop in to visit you on my travels-I would like that. Sincerely Murray Smith.

Our condolences to the family and friends of Butch. As an Automotive Mechanics Teacher he was able to do more than just teach us the basics of how to fix cars and trucks. Butch helped everyone to learn and understand how things worked and prepared us for a future in automotive service and repair. He mentored us beyond the world of mechanics and offered some life lessons that were greatly needed during our adolescence. Butch was someone that you could never be around enough, he always had great stories to listen to and a never ending list of topics for conversation. He will be missed but his memories will always be with us.
