Emogene Smith Obituary

Emogene Louder McGhee Smith, the daughter of the late Wesley and Jurutha Louder, passed away Sunday morning, March 3.
She was born on June 26, 1944, in Barbour County, and held dual residence in Pittsview and Spring Lake, N.C. (where she lived at the time of her departure).
Emogene loved God, and she began to know the Lord at the age of 8. She is known for her love and many acts of kindness and service, which she demonstrated through relationships in the community, at work, church and home by compelling others to get to know the Lord. Even in her time of illness, she remained a faithful advocate for the Lord Jesus Christ.
Emogene leaves to carry on her legacy: her children Elder Robin McGhee Moss (William) of Clarksville, Tenn., Dr. Tawanna McGhee Thondique (Omar) of Spring Lake, N.C., Tonia McGhee of Pittsview, Maryia Dana Jones (Kenneth) of Columbus and Marxine Crowell Green (Timothy) of Birmingham; goddaughters Evelyn "Joy" Screws of Pittsview and April Ashford (Anthony) of Lexington, S.C.; siblings, Mary White of Cincinnati, Andrew Mencer (Lurlene) of Birmingham, Wesley Louder Jr. (Jamie) of Water Valley, Miss., Willie Louder Sr. (Patricia) of Columbus, Annie Johnson (James) of Detroit, Aaron Louder of Columbus, Dorothy Stanford (Lonnie) of Opelika, Emma Jean Stanford of Tampa and Ruby Jewel Williams of Tampa; and a host of grandchildren whom she adored and who adore her even now in memory.
Emogene is preceded in death by her siblings, Rosa "Tunch" Louder Wilborn, Lula Louder Bass (Theodis), Lizzie Louder Johnson, Amy Louder Pierce and Katie Louder Davis (Napoleon).
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 9, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 799 Springhill Road, at 1 p.m. CST (2 p.m., EST); visitation will be held at Chapman Funeral Home, from 1-5 p.m. (CST) and from 6 p.m. to close of business
Eufaula Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
