Bobby Nester Obituary

LITTLESTOWN Bobby G. (Bob) Nester, 72, found eternal peace with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 29, 2014, in York Hospital, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. He was lovingly surrounded by family members and friends. Born on September 15, 1941, in Hanover, to the late Isabelle (Morelock) and Emanuel Nester, Bob was the loving husband of Nancy (Markle) Nester for nearly 56 years. He was a devoted father to Sherry Kermes (husband Fred) of Hanover, Kathy Dutterer (husband Scott) of Littlestown, and Jody Eckhart (husband Todd) of Red Lion. Bob was also the proud grandfather of Darrell Crabbs, Jr. (wife Melissa), Amanda (Crabbs) Bushey (husband Jared), Jordan Dutterer, Ashlan Dutterer, Josiah Eckhart, and Alyssa Eckhart; and six great-grandchildren. Bobby is also survived by a brother, J. Steven Nester of Littlestown; and two sisters, Lois Burton of Reisterstown, Md., and Tammy Nash of Hampstead, Md. He was predeceased by a brother, Edward Nester, and a sister, Peggy Hinkhaus. In addition to being a devoted family man, Bob was an avid hunter and enjoyed many hunting trips to Potter County with friends and family. He also hunted in Wyoming with friends and in Maine and Canada with his grandson, Darrell. Bob was well-known for a good hunting story that may or may not have been exaggerated, and he was well-loved for being a jokester. His humor and fun-loving attitude will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved Bob. Bob served as a police officer for years in Littlestown before going to work for Utz Quality Foods, Inc. He was recently honored for his many years of service at Utz. Bob's life was changed when he was shot in the head during an attempted robbery while working as a route salesman in Baltimore, Md., in 1987. His life was spared and God's work began through Bob and his testimony. He shared his love of the Lord with countless people in the years since the shooting. His faith in God was evident in his interactions with coworkers, family, and friends. He continued to work for Utz in the outlet store, as the company mailman, and as a tour guide in the tour gallery until as recently as 2013. In 1997 Bob battled and won a bout with cancer, allowing him to continue his work in sharing the Gospel and his testimony to God's love and grace. A friend to everyone he met, Bob's memory and legacy will live on through the lives of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and all who knew and loved him. Bob was a lifetime member of the Alpha Fire Company in Littlestown, the PA Game Commission, and Littlestown Fish & Game. He was a member of the Full Gospel Businessmen. He was an active and devoted member of the Littlestown Chapel. Viewing is Tuesday, June 3, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Little's Funeral Home, Littlestown, and 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Church of God, 600 Fairview Drive, Hanover. Funeral service is Wednesday at 11 a.m. at First Church of God with Pastor Scott Morgan officiating. Interment is at Marburg Memorial Gardens, Hanover. Pallbearers will be Darrell Crabbs, Jr., Josiah Eckhart, Jordan Dutterer, Jared Bushey, Todd Eckhart, and Fred Kermes. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Littlestown Chapel, 1144 Bollinger Road, Littlestown, PA 17340 in Bob's memory. Online condolences on www.littlesfh.com

Nancy, my condolences to you and your family.. Bobby knew how to brighten everyone's day even when he was having a bad day. I believe he was truly a Squire at heart and would have provided more than $2 to feed his family. The world is a better place because Bobby was a part of it.

Nancy, my condolences to you and your family. Bobby was certainly a bright spot in the few days I was privileged to work with him. I know he was truly a Squire in his heart and would willingly pay more than $2 for his daughter's lunch. The world is a better place because Bobby was a part of it.

Nancy & family,

So sorry for your loss. Bobby was a spiritual mentor to me as well as you, Denny and Linda. He helped many find a personal relationship with The Lord. Never forget those first Bible Studies in your home. May The Lord grant you comfort and peace. He may be absent from the body, but we know he is alive in his Spirit. God's love to you all.
