Burnell Lawrence Obituary

HANOVER Burnell J. "Son" Lawrence, 79, passed away peacefully, Monday, March 4, 2013, at Home wood at Plum Creek in Hanover. He was the husband of Patricia A. (Cover) Lawrence, his wife of 56 years. Born May 6, 1933, in Hanover, he was the son of the late Earl J. and Ethel M. (Wolf) Lawrence. Burnell was retired from Hanover Direct Inc., as Senior Vice Preisdent, after 45 years of service. He was a 1951 graduate of Delone Catholic High School, a past president of the Industrial Management Club, a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Hanover and a life member of the McSherrystown Home Association. Burnell was a veteran of the Army serving during the Korean Conflict. He was involved in many community and church activities, and enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. He also enjoyed bowling, golfing, and was an avid Notre Dame Football fan. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are five children, Diane Krumrine and her husband Robert Jr., and Donald Lawrence and his wife Deb all of McSherrystown, James Lawrence and his wife Belinda of Mechanicsburg, Robert Lawrence and his wife Bridget, and Linda West and her husband Christopher all of Spring Grove; 15 grandchildren, Jen, Stefania, Melissa and Erica Krumrine, Jared, Tiffany, and Drew Lawrence, Carissa Heuer, Megan Lawrence, Kyle, Shawn, Ireland, and Presley Lawrence, and Ryan and Zachary West; one great-grandchild, Lilee; and 10 siblings, the Very Rev. Kenneth F. Lawrence of Columbia, William B. Lawrence of McSherrystown, Sr. Mary Ann Lawrence of Camphill, Sr. Jane Lawrence of Hanover, Rev. Msgr. Robert E. Lawrence of Bloomsburg, Raymond L. Lawrence of Hanover, Thomas M. Lawrence of McSherrystown, Wayne C. Lawrence of Hanover, Daniel E. Lawrence and Marion M. Small, both of McSherrystown. He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard J. Lawrence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Hanover, with his brothers, Very Rev. Kenneth F. Lawrence, Rev. Msgr. Robert E. Lawrence, and his pastor Rev. John D. Schmalhofer concelebrating. Burial will follow in St. Vincent Cemetery, Hanover. Friends and relatives will be received Wednesday 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Ave., McSherrystown with prayers at 8 p.m. Serving as pallbearers will be Jared, Drew, Kyle, Shawn and Megan Lawrence, and Jen Krumrine. My prayers are with you at this crossroads of your life. I have many happy memories of "son".
My dad and I had the Third Street Garage and remember him as an excellent customer. Never a complaint,always so friendly.
