Dennis Anderson Obituary

EAST BERLIN Dennis F. Anderson, 58, passed away from a tragic accident at his home Saturday, April 12, 2014. He was the husband of Theresa (Cox) Anderson, his wife of 31 years. Dennis was born on November 1, 1955, in Richland Center, WI, the son of Darwyn D. and Wanda E. (Turner) Anderson of Richland, WI. He was the second of five children. Dennis grew up on a small dairy farm and experienced all the chores and work that go with it. Initially aspiring to be a mechanic, his true passion was aviation and he opted for a stint in the United States Air Force. Upon completion of his service, which included a tour in Korea, he then settled in Las Vegas, NV. It was there that Dennis met the love of his life, Theresa Cox. Dennis and Theresa married on July 17, 1982 in Boise, ID. In October of 1982 he joined the U.S. Army to become a Helicopter pilot. It was while he was in flight school at Fort Rucker, AL that Dennis and Theresa gave birth to their first son Todd. His first assignment was in Germany where he flew OH-58Ds along the Czech border, learned of his love for German beer, and had his second son Scott. He then was stationed in Fort Carson, CO, where Theresa and he gave birth to their daughter Brianna. Dennis left the Army in 1990 but continued to pursue his passion for aviation. He flew tour planes over the Grand Canyon and helicopters for various companies before his family settled in Columbus, OH in 1994. His family lived in Columbus for the next 18 years before moving to East Berlin to assume the Chief Pilot position with Haverfield in Gettysburg. Dennis loved everything aviation, the Green Bay Packers, the Ohio State Buckeyes, the family boat, fishing (with what minimal skill he had), and enjoyed a love-hate relationship with the family dogs. At the end of the day, he loved nothing more than his family. His schedule kept him away from home for long stretches at a time, but he never failed to make his family the priority. Dennis leaves behind a loving family, his wife Theresa, two sons; Todd Anderson of Columbus, OH and Scott Anderson of Blackwood, NJ, a daughter Brianna Anderson of Phoenix, AZ, his parents Darwyn and Wanda Anderson of Richland Center, WI, two sisters; Denise Rudersdorf and her husband Larry of Pulaski, WI and Doreen Fehlauer and her husband Jason of Watertown, WI, a brother Daniel Anderson of Richland, WI. He was predeceased by a sister Dianne Rudersdorf, a sister-in-law Diane Anderson and a beloved uncle Earl Turner. Local funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. from the Trinity Lutheran Church, West King St. East Berlin with Rev. George B. Scott officiating. Burial will be at the Richland Center Cemetery in Richland Center, WI Tuesday April 22, 2014. There will be no viewing, however, the family will receive friends at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The family requests no flowers. It has been a while now. They say that time heals the wounds. How much time? How deep the wound? For whatever it's worth to the people that keep looking; I still miss him too…..

I am so saddened by the passing of Dennis. I met him in Germany in 1984,during our stint in the Army. We had much in common and developed a great friendship over the years. I have so many memories, great memories of Dennis, his family, my family and our "Army family". I will always remember Dennis as a great friend, loving husband, father, and great aviator. I am blessed to have known him.

April 16, 2014

Dennis was a great friend. I had worked with and knew him for the last 14 years. We shared a common bond with strong family ties, farming backgrounds, and flying.
Although I never really got to know his family personally, he often spoke of you in conversation. He was a dedicated husband and father. You knew this by his relentless spark and glimmer in his eyes. He loved, respected, and enjoyed his wife and three children. He was proud of you all.
Dennis could be covered up with work and stress and still have a smile and navigate through it. He had a committed and amazing work ethic. He often made things that seemed impossible, possible.
He was a friend to many and will be greatly missed. May God comfort and hold up his loved ones, family, and friends.
He is watching over us now and flying in Heaven.

Theresa & Family,
I had the distinct pleasure of working with Dennis in 1998 when he was flying for Minit-Men on contract work for Allegheny Power in Kittanning, Pa. He brought with him a great attitude and sense of humor of which I'll never forget.
We shared our experiences of serving in the military in Germany and reminisced of those times. A true professional who will be sadly missed. Im Himmel Frieden…Prosit!
