Doris Gebhart Obituary

BONNEAUVILLE Doris Marie (Hockensmith) Gebhart, 76, died Tuesday, February 2, 2010, at her home with her loving husband and family by her side. Dorry was the loving wife of Raymond E. Gebhart, Jr. to whom she was married 58 years. Born July 8, 1933, in New Oxford, she was the daughter of the late Bernard and Marie (Billman) Hockensmith. Mrs. Gebhart was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Bonneauville, and the Council of Catholic Women. Dorry devoted her life to her nine children, loved to play bingo, 500 Rummy, and do word search puzzles. She also helped her husband in his businesses, Jake's Lunch Wagon and the former Grey Goose Inn. In addition to her husband, Raymond, Dorry is survived by her children, Ellen M. Greenholt of New Oxford, Laurena A. Gebhart of Bonneauville, Maureen G. Kuhn of Bonneauville, Patrick E. Gebhart of Romney, W.Va., Bernard J. Gebhart of New Oxford, Regina L. Gebhart of Fairfield, Andrew J. Gebhart of Bonneauville, Julie A. Eckenrode of Gardners, and Brigit D. Soliday of Gettysburg; 19 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; five sisters, Pat Orndorff of Brooksville, Fla., Yvonne Swartzbaugh of McSherrystown, Marge Smith of New Oxford, Sarah Arigo of Thomasville, and Terri Williams of Spring Grove; and three brothers, Fred Hockensmith of Belton, S.C., and Jerry Hockensmith and Dan Hockensmith, both of Hanover. She was preceded in death by one sister, Myrna Mowery, and one brother, Len Hockensmith. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 10 E. Hanover St., Bonneauville, with Father Caesar Belchez as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church Cemetery. A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 66 E. Hanover St., Bonneauville. Serving as casketbearers will be Kurtis Kuhn, Brandon Buck, Michael Greenholt, Jason Gebhart, Aaron Gebhart, Jacob Soliday, and Zachary Heikes. If you wish to make contributions in honor of Dorry, the family suggests they be made to St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 10 E.
