Hanover
Earl L. Schuman, 90, entered God's eternal care, Thursday, October 26, 2017 at the Hanover Hall Nursing Center, Hanover, with his loving family by his side.
Born February 24, 1927 in Spring Grove, he was the son of the late Clayton G. and Mary (Miller) Schuman. He was the loving husband of Theresa G. (Groft) Schuman with whom he shared over seventy years of marriage.
Earl was in the Merchant Marines for two years before being drafted and serving his country proudly in the United States Army during World War II.
Mr. Schuman was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Hanover. He was a member of the Hanover BPOE #763, the Hanover VFW #2506 and the American Legion Post #14 of Hanover.
Earl retired from P.H. Glatfelter as the Assistant Superintendent and a member of the Quarter Century Club.
In addition to his loving wife, Theresa, Earl is survived by his children, Robert E. Schuman of McSherrystown, Gary M. Schuman of Hanover, Debra J. Keener of East Berlin, Andra T. Slaybaugh of New Oxford, and Kyle D. Schuman of San Diego, CA; ten grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Richard G. Schuman of Hanover.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 3, 2017 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 220 Third Street, Hanover, with Father Michael P. Reid, II as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Vincent's Cemetery, Hanover, with the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard Burial Detail providing Military Honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Earl's name to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 220 Third Street, Hanover, PA 17331.

Dear Schuman Family, My mother Norma Schuman (Becker)previously of Hanover PA always spoke highly of Earl and Dick. I had the pleasure on a few occasions of meeting him and enjoying a visit with him at the Elks. Although it has been years i am sadden that i did not get to know him and the family better. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and the Family.

Theresa and all the Schuman family,
We were so sorry to hear of Earl's passing. I certainly remember your visit to the Jacksonville house and truly enjoyed getting to know all of you through Kyle. I always enjoyed Earl's stories and know he will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
