Frederick Ecker Obituary

NEW OXFORD Frederick W. Ecker, 58, died Friday, November 9, 2012, in York. He was the husband of Patricia A. (Weigle) Ecker, who died July 11, 2010. Fred was born July 10, 1954, in Gettysburg, the son of Jean I. (Eckard) Ecker Smith and her husband, Howard of Abbottstown, and William C. Ecker of York. Fred was a member of the Juniata Saddle Club, and was employed for more than 20 years by R.H. Crawford Trucking. In addition to his father, mother, and stepfather, Fred is survived by a son, Frederick W. Ecker, Jr. and his wife, Stephanie of Orrtanna; two daughters, Teri Lopez of Houston, Texas and Janie Ecker of Boiling Springs; seven grandchildren; three brothers, Bill Ecker and his wife, Deb of Abbottstown, Wade Clark and his wife, Dorene of Glen Rock, and Terry Clark and his wife, Deb of New Stanton; and four sisters, Linda Ecker of Columbus, Ohio, Barb James and her husband, Doyle of Baudette, Minn., Bonnie Raber and her husband, Tom of East Berlin, and Kathy Thompson and her husband, Alan of Wheaton, Md. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 14, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 2740 Roosevelt Ave., York, with Pastor Greg Wahlberg officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. in Heidlersburg Cemetery. Viewings will be held on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Feiser Funeral Home, Inc., 302 Lincolnway West, New Oxford, and on Wednesday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. My family could not have asked for a better husband for our sister, Pat. Fred truly was a "gentle giant". Although he will be missed and our hearts are heavy, we take solace in knowing that he is reunited with his soul mate.
