Harry Weldon Obituary

Harry C. Weldon
HANOVER
Harry Charles Weldon, 84, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 11, 2016.
He was born in Wilmington, Del., on March 6, 1931, to Stephen Woodrow Weldon and Catherine (Jones) Weldon.
He started working at the age of eight at Bob Barnes Market, joined the Air Force in 1950, and served in the Korean War. After the war, he worked for Sears & Robuck Co. During his 19 years there, he worked his way from a clerk in the hardware dept. to Store Planning in N.Y.C.
On April 12, 1954, he married Mary Henning in Elkton, Md. They had five children together. Harry always had a smile and a handshake for everyone. He made himself the official greeter at whatever church he was attending. Next to his biological family, his church family was just as important to him. He loved the Lord with all his heart and told everyone he met about his Savior. Harry also loved sports. He played football in high school, was a bit of a pool shark in his younger days and joined a fast pitch softball team in the early 70's. The team was called the Christian Nine, which became his mission field. He could play softball and share the gospel with others.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Stephen and Donald; two sons:,Harry Jr. and David; and one grandson, Jonathan. Harry is survived by his wife of almost 62 years, Mary; a son, Earl, married to Linda; and two daughters, Lisa (David) Kilmer and Paula (Doug) Chaplin. He also has 12 grandkids and 19 great-grandkids. Harry is also survived by his brothers, Richard, married to Faye, Robert, married to Judy, Paul, married to Jeri, and Curt, married to Mary; a sister-in-law, Kay; two sisters, Kay (Kooch) Zuzek and Betty (Fred) Doyle; and many nieces and nephews.
Harry loved his family and was proud of all of them, but especially those who served their country in the military, served in state or local government, law enforcement, and as first responders.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 19, 2016, at 10 a.m. at Hope Baptist Church, 6450 Hope Way, Hanover, with Pastor Allen Harris officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in Conestoga Memorial Park in Lancaster. There will be no viewing, however the family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Hope Christian School.

Uncle Harry was such a great man and someone who I well respected. He always had a warm smile, welcoming arms, a gentle humbleness, and a love for the Lord. He was a strong believer and a man of great faith. Even during adversity, his trust was in his Savior and he knew that God would provide, and He always did.

There were times in my life that if Uncle Harry caught wind of a hardship facing me, he would find a way to surprise me with something, no matter how small. He had such a giving heart and a deep love for family. He was just a good man, no question about it. One of the best.

When my Dad passed (his brother) and Mom-Mom passed (his mother), Uncle Harry was there and wrapped me in those loving arms of his. He never had to say a word - he was just there to support me, comfort me, and give me someone to hold on to. His compassion and kind heart shown like a beacon.

Uncle Harry, you are finally home and in the loving arms of your Savior. You will sorely be missed by so many people here, but there is rejoicing going on in Heaven!

Thank you for being such an inspiration to me by your faith, your compassion, your humbleness, your warm and always ready smile, and your great love and trust of the Lord!

Love,
Doris Weldon Fry

A candle IS a fitting image for my Dad. He was a light in this world, and his passing is truly the end of an era for me. From my first days on this earth, Mom and Dad have been my earliest beacons and the importance of their influence and example cannot be measured.

We were further blessed by being part of an extended family that was happy, loving and fun! Dad's eight brothers and sisters, and their corresponding husbands, wives and children (my many cousins!) eventually grew into a fabulous army of support. I grew up thinking that surely everyone had such a family where they felt loved and accepted.

Sadly, as we grow up, we see that not everyone has what we had! My challenge to all my cousins is to learn from our leaders in this great family and try to extend the same acceptance, love and positive direction in the lives of our children and grandchildren!

Thank you, Dad, for lighting the way.

There is so much I'd like to say about my dad. As a little girl, and the first daughter, he made me feel like a princess. Don't get me wrong I wasn't given everything and anything I wanted. I got spankings for talking back and not listening. More important, I remember him tucking me in at night, sitting on the side of my bed and saying" I love you as much as the star's in the sky, all the fish in the sea, and all the sand on the beach!". My dad never failed to make me feel loved. He was a good man, a man of integrity and honesty. He was not a perfect man, and he would tell you that himself. He was a man saved by grace. He loved his family and his Savior. I miss him terribly, and will, until the day I die and see him again in heaven. I love you Dad!

Death is not the End
By Morris R Struk

The shadows of death are not for me,
In His bosom, soon we'll be.

Whether young or old that may be,
Thru the gloom, His face we'll see.

Destine from birth was He to die,
For our sins, was His cry.

On the cross He took our place,
To redeem mankind, the human race."it

"It is finished" was His cry,
Said the great Shepherd of the sky.

We find that death is only the door,
From time to eternity's glorious shore.

"Where is thy victory? O grave,"
As He cried for those He came to save.

Risen from the grave was their cry,
As, He ascended into the sky.

"O Death were is thy sting,"
All the ransom ones He will bring.

Death is not the end for me,
It's only the forerunner
Of that light, that soon we'll see.

As we leave this life behind,
Never Again
To dwell in this period called time.

Until then, fellow believer
