Herbert Barnes Obituary

Herbert C. Barnes, 76, formerly of Jefferson, died at 12:08 p.m. Thursday, August 31, 2006, at York Hospital. He was the husband of H. LaRue (Mock) Barnes who died November 5, 2004. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 5, 2006, at Mt. Carmel Lutheran Cemetery, Moulstown Road, Hanover, with the Rev. Donald E. Mummert officiating. Irwin Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove, is coordinating arrangements. Born November 21, 1929, in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Spencer Coleman Barnes and Charlotte (Drane) Roehm. Mr. Barnes was a retired truck driver, having driven many years for various companies, the most time being with Eazor Express of Pittsburgh. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Lutheran Church in Hanover. Mr. Barnes will be sadly missed by two children, Debra A. Winter and Stanley E. Barnes, both of York; two grandsons, Michael and Sheldon Herbert; a great-grandson, Sheldon Herbert, Jr.; and seven stepchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in his memory to Mt. Carmel Lutheran Church, 1398 Moulstown Road, Hanover, PA 17331. Memories may be shared at www.irwinfuneralhome.com
