Jay Glatfelter Obituary

DALLASTOWN Jay E. Glatfelter, 62, died of natural causes at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2015, at Greenmount United Methodist Church, 4242 Greenmount Church Road, Glen Rock, with his pastor, the Rev. Martin Bovee, officiating. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The Geiple Funeral Home, Inc., 53 Main St., Glen Rock, is in charge of the arrangements. Jay was born on August 12, 1952, in Manheim Township, a son of the late Philip A.L. and Doris L. "Nadine" (Bixler) Glatfelter. He retired from M & Z Anodizing, Dallastown, and prior to that had worked at the former Zell Brothers in Dallastown, Dolly Madison Furniture Company (DMI) in Gettysburg, and with Rental Uniform Services (RVS) in Hanover. He leaves a son, Kurt E. Glatfelter and his fiancee, Heidi Frye of Altoona; a daughter, Stacey A. Bleecker and her husband, Gary of Hanover; three grandchildren, Bryce Glatfelter, Samantha Bleecker, and Gavin Bleecker, and a granddaughter, Savanna Bleecker, due on January 19, 2015; three sisters, Judy (John) Weaver of York, Joan Marchio of Jacobus, and Joy Glatfelter-Jones of Maytown; and five brothers, James (Patricia) Glatfelter of York, Jerry (Alice) Glatfelter of York, Joel (Ruth) Glatfelter of Seven Valleys, John (Lesa) Glatfelter of Owings Mills, Md., and Jerome (Trina) Glatfelter of Seven Valleys. He was the long time companion of the late Cindy Shadle, and was pre-deceased by a daughter, Lisa L. Glatfelter. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Greenmount Cemetery Association Perpetual Care Fund c/o Lamar Glatfelter, 4025 Shaffer's Church Road, Glen Rock, PA 17327.
