Jesse Glass Obituary

Jesse Garland Glass Sr., 68, of Westminster, died Monday afternoon, May 10, 2004, at the Gilchrist Center for Hospice Care in Towson. He was the husband of Kathleen Elsie (Gow) Glass for 50 years. Born March 14, 1936, in Union Mills, Md., he was the son of Ora (Kinder) Glass Lightner of Thurmont and the late Lloyd Glass Sr. Mr. Glass was a selfemployed hay and straw distributor to many local farms. He was an avid horseman, enjoying horseback riding and the outdoors. Surviving in addition to his mother and wife are sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Jesse G. Glass Jr. and Mayako Glass of Tokyo, Jeffery D. and Rachelle Glass of Westminster and Christopher D. and Michele Glass of Red Lion, Pa.; brothers, Preston Glass of Gettysburg and Dale Glass of Hanover, Pa.; and sisters, Wilma Jean Crawford of McSherrystown, Pa., Sylvia Dillow of Laurel, Evelyn Pechart of Hanover, Pa., and Phyllis Fritz and Vicki Bailey, both of Thurmont. Also surviving are grandchildren, Derek, Delmar H., Tennessee, Korin, Kolin and Ethan Glass and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Glass was preceded in death by brothers, Fred Glass and Lloyd Glass Jr. A memorial service will be held 8 p.m. Friday from MyersDurboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster, with the Rev. Jennifer L. Brown of Westminster United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Gilchrist Center for Hospice Care, 6601 N. Charles St., Baltimore, Md. 21204, or to the American Cancer Society, 1393 Progress Way, Suite 908, Eldersburg, Md. 21784.
