John Timmerman Obituary

HANOVER John Carl Timmerman, 79, husband of Margaret V. Knott Timmerman, entered into God's eternal care Friday, January 23, 2009, at Hanover Hospital. Born August 13, 1929, in Emmitsburg, Md., he was a son of the late Fred Paul Timmerman and Marion Marie Cotilus Timmerman. He was also preceded in death by two daughters, Marion Marie and Carolyn Elaine Timmerman; twin brothers, William and Henry Timmerman; and a third brother, Fred Timmerman, Jr. Mr. Timmerman was a 20 year employee of Black & Decker, and served with the U.S. Army as a corporal during World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was an active member of the VFW Post #6658. He had a passion for music as he played the guitar and mandolin, and enjoyed the outdoors and hunting. Mr. Timmerman also had an admiration for cats. Surviving, in addition to his wife of 50 years, are his daughter, Brenda Corley and her husband, Sgt. First Class James Corley of Waynesville, Mo.; two grandchildren, Melody and Jordan Corley; three sisters, Catherine Robitaille and her husband, Leo of Naples, Fla., Ann Besash and her husband, Frank of Coatesville, and Christine Timmerman of Frederick, Md.; and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church by the Rev. Timothy D. Marcoe. A Committal Service will be held at 12:30 p.m. in the New St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Emmitsburg, Md. There is no viewing planned at this time. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5055 Grandview Road, Hanover, PA 17331. Panebaker Funeral Home, 311 Broadway, Hanover, is in charge of arrangements. I'm really sorry to hear about Mr. Timmerman. I want to express my sincerest condolences. I have many fond memories growing up next door to your family on Beaver Creek Road. I'm glad I got the chance to see him last summer while visiting. God bless and take care.
