John Welshonce Obituary

GETTYSBURG John A. Welshonce, 82, died Thursday, March 22, 2007, at his home. His wife ,Doris Welshonce, died in 2000. He was born July 10, 1924, in Keyser, W.Va., the son of the late Eben and Katherine Rogers Welshonce. Mr. Welshonce was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Gettysburg. He was also a member of the Gettysburg Elks Club and the Albert J. Lentz Post 202 American Legion. He was a veteran of WWII. Mr. Welshonce owned and operated Associated Services, a linen cleaning and supply operation for local hotels and restaurants. Mr. Welshonce is survived by a daughter, Susan W. Brewer of Garden City, N.Y.; a son, James D. Welshonce of Fairfield; two grandsons, Reid Brewer and Todd Brewer; a brother, James Welshonce of Elkins, W.Va.; and his companion, Gladys Parks. He was preceded in death by a sister, Katherine Hereter. A memorial service will be held Monday, March 26, 2007, at 12 noon from St. James Lutheran Church, 109 York St., Gettysburg, with the Rev. Michael E. Allwein officiating. Private interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Gettysburg. Memorials can be made to St. James Lutheran Church, 109 York St., Gettysburg, PA 17325; or Hospice of the Good Shepherd, 1075 Old Harrisburg Road, Gettysburg, PA 17325. The Monahan Funeral Home, Gettysburg, is in charge of the arrangements.
