Lillian F. Messinger

Lillian F. Messinger, 92, entered into God's eternal care on Thursday, February 2, 2017, at ManorCare Health Services in Chambersburg. She was the wife of Donald H. Messinger, her husband of 69 years.
Born September 20, 1924 in Gettysburg, she was the daughter of Roy and Lillian (Kretshmar) Smith.
Lillian was retired from Lutheran Home Care and Hospice after 17 years of service. She was a 1942 graduate of Littlestown High School, and graduated in 1947 from St. Agnes Hospital School of Nursing in Baltimore as a member of the US Cadet Nurse Corps. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Oxford, and participated as a Den Mother of Troop 127 and was a charter member of the first Girl Scout Troop #12 of Littlestown. Lillian enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to her husband are six children, Donna L. Godfrey of Farmville, Va., David R. Messinger and wife, Melissa of Littlestown, Daniel A. Messinger and wife, Wanda of Hanover, Denise E. Messinger and husband, Chuck Krepley of Ardentsville, Joe Messinger of East Berlin and Debra A. Stover and husband, Ron of Carlisle; ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three siblings, Jean Weaver, Frances Geiselman and Roy E. Smith Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Friday, February 10, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 106 Carlisle St., New Oxford with Rev. Michael Letteer as celebrant. Burial will be private.
