Marshall Heller Obituary

Marshall Stanley Heller, 76, died Saturday, December 10, 2005, at his home. He was the husband of Janet "Polly" Barnes Settle-Heller, to whom he was wed for 25 years this spring. Born March 27, 1929, in Biglerville, Adams County, he was the son of the late Harry and Nettie Shetter Heller. Mr. Heller was a graduate of Biglerville High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving his country proudly during the Korean Conflict. Later, he served in the Pennsylvania National Guard for five years. He was employed by Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania for 25 years. Mr. Heller was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Gettysburg for over 52 years. He was a life member of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks and a 20-year member of the LHPOA. He was also a member of the Adams County Fish and Game Association, the Blue Ridge Sportsman's Club, the National AARP, the Biglerville American Legion Post #262, the Columbia Gas Retirees Club, and the Manufacturing Light & Heat Rookies. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Lauri Heller of Gettysburg, Blake Heller of Littlestown, and Heather Carbaugh of Gettysburg; three stepchildren, Paul C. Settle of Bendersville, Pamela M. Miserendino of Hanover, and Lisa Gray; a brother, Clark Heller of Lancaster; and four beloved Godchildren, Kyle, Ryan, Leah, and Erin Bentz, all children of Wm. and Kim Bentz of Frederick, Md. He was predeceased by a brother, Gerald Heller. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, at St. James Lutheran Church, 109 York St., Gettysburg, with the Rev. Michael Allwein officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery on Baltimore St., just south of the Soldiers National Cemetery. There will be a viewing from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the church. Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials can be made to the SPCA, 11 Goldenville Road, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
