Michael Poist Obituary

What should have been an enjoyable annual quail hunting trip ended in sadness for the Poist family and friends when Dr. Michael Gerard Poist, 42, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., suffered a fatal heart attack in Camilla, Ga., on Monday, Nov. 5, 2003. Born Oct. 19, 1961, in Williamsburg, Va., Dr. Poist was the son of Joseph E. and Rosalie Klunk Poist, formerly of the Hanover/New Oxford area. Surviving also are his wife, Ginny Poist; three daughters, Brittany Nicole, Lauren Michael and Alexandra Christine; a brother, Dr. James E. Poist, his wife, Pam, and their three children, Anna Marie, Courtney and Mason; a sister, Andrea Poist-Evans, her husband, Jason Evans, and their daughter, Isabella Grace, all of Tuscaloosa. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. The loss of our eldest son has created a crater in our hearts. Yet, dear family and friends, your prayers, cards, letters, phone calls, flowers, e-mails, visits and memorial offerings have lightened our spirits. Our families have received cards that tower beyond imagination. So many flowers were sent that Tuscaloosa florists could not fill all the orders. Some of your flowers will brighten future days for all of us due to candles made using blossoms from the arrangements. Mike's sister, Andrea, along with Mike's children, nieces and nephew, spent a lot of time and love preserving your thoughtfulness and love.
