YORK Norman F. Zartman "Bub", 92, passed away at home with his family by his side on Tuesday, November 29, 2011. He was the beloved husband of Estella A. (Rebert) Zartman. Together they shared over 68 years of marriage. Norman was born in Hanover, on April 15, 1919, and was one of 11 children of the late Chauncey and Carrie (Shanabrook) Zartman. He worked as a floorman for New York Wire in York for over 40 years and retired in 1984. He was a longtime member of Hanover Wesleyan Church. He was an avid hunter and cherished the many trips he took with his brother-in-law, Gerald, to Potter County. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Terry Zartman and wife, Penny of Orange, Mass.; his daughters, Darlene "Dolly" Owens and husband, Kenneth of Thomasville, and Kathleen Altland and husband, Charles of Dover; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Anna Brady; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Virginia Hoffman; his sisters, Dorothy Grim, Amanda Clouser, Effie Kipple, Enora Feeser, and Amelia Bankert; and his brothers, Eugene, Edward, Francis, and Merle Zartman. A funeral service in celebration of his life will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Irwin-Beck Funeral Home. & Cremation Service PC, 175 N Main St., Spring Grove, with the Rev. Jerry Beers and the Rev. Ethan Levengood officiating. He will be laid to rest following the service at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hanover. Viewings will be held on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Hanover Wesleyan Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 861, Hanover, PA 17331; or HomeCare of York White Rose Hospice, 1412 Sixth Ave., York, PA 17403. Condolences may be shared at www.irwinbeck.com
