Roland Reichart Obituary

HANOVER Roland W. Reichart, 82, entered into God's eternal care Wednesday, January 31, 2007, at his home. Roland was the loving husband of Jeanne H. (Sheaffer) Reichart, who died Decem ber 24, 2004. Born February 23, 1924, in Hanover, he was the son of the late Claude S. and Myrtle E. (Hoffacker) Reichart. Mr. Reichart was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Hanover, as well as the layman Sunday School Class. He was a member of the Harold H. Bair Post 14 American Legion, Hanover, and the Hanover YMCA where he exercised daily in the Feelin Good Class. Roland was employed by the P.H. Glatfelter Company from 1946, as a Recovery Boiler Operator and in maintenance, until his retirement in 1987. He was a member of the ¼ Century Club at the Company as well. Mr. Reichart was a veteran of the United States Navy having served as a fireman First Class aboard the U.S.S. Bataan during World War II. Roland is survived by two daughters, Barbara J. Dusman and her husband, Glenn G. of Hanover, and Susan J. Appler and her husband, Donald F. of Hanover; three grandchildren, Angela K. Carr, Shawn M. Appler, and Stacey L. Appler; five great-grandchildren, Lillie Carr, Nicholas Carr, Shane Carr, Abbie Carr, and Alex Carr; one brother, Raymond J. Reichart of Hanover; a sister-in-law, Louise Arentz; two nephews, Wayne Arentz and Gary Reichart; and one niece, Linda O'Brien. He was preceded in death by one brother, Russell C. Reichart. A service to celebrate and remember Roland's life will be held 11 a.m. Monday, February 5, 2007, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick St., Hanover, with his pastor, the Rev. Bradley E. Rentzel, officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Hanover, with the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard providing military honors. A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Serving as casketbearers will be Glenn Dusman, Donald Appler, Shawn Appler, Hugh "Skipper" Carr, III, Joan Mullen, and Charles Shaffer. Serving as Honorary Casketbearers will be Angela Carr and Stacey Appler. If you wish to make contributions in Roland's name, the family suggests they may be made to the Endowment Fund of Trinity United Church of Christ, 116 York St., Hanover, PA 17331.
