Rose Carbaugh Obituary

Rose M. "Rosie" Carbaugh, 70, entered into God's eternal care, Wednesday April 19, 2006, at York Hospital. She was the wife of Thomas G. Carbaugh, her husband of 50 years. Born April 18, 1936, in Adams County, she was the daughter of the late Bernard E. and Mary Rose (Neiderer) Smith. She was a 1954 graduate of Delone Catholic High School in McSherrystown, and was a member of Sacred Heart Basilica in Edgegrove. Surviving also are four sons and daughter-in-laws, Thomas J. and Barbara J. Carbaugh of Hanover, David J. and Brenda K. Carbaugh of Abbottstown, Anthony M. Carbaugh Sr. and Waynette E. Crider of New Oxford, Daniel M. and Stacy L. Carbaugh of McSherrystown; a daughter and son-in-law, Michele M. and David G. Gladfelter of Virginia; 11 grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert B. Smith and Arnold J. Smith both of Hanover; and two sisters, Sandra Smith of Colorado and Kathleen Brown of Spring Grove. She was preceded in death by a son, Michael A. Carbaugh. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 9 a.m. Saturday, at Sacred Heart Basilica in Edgegrove, with the Rev. Lawrence J. McNeil officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Edgegrove. Relatives and friends will be received Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Ave., McSherrystown, with a prayer service at 8 p.m. Serving as pallbearers will be Thomas Carbaugh, David J. Carbaugh, Anthony Carbaugh Sr., Daniel Carbaugh, Joseph Carbaugh, Justin Carbaugh, David A. Carbaugh, Donald Gladfelter and Anthony Carbaugh Jr. Memorial contributions may be made in honor of Rosie, to Wellspan Dialysis Center, 43 Columbus Ave., Littlestown, PA 17340.
