Jean Bovee Obituary
She was born in Dansville on Oct. 14, 1929, a daughter of the late Arthur and Katherine (Zimmer) Hillier. On Dec. 4, 1948, she was married to Robert J. Bovee Sr., who predeceased her on Sept. 5, 2006. She was also predeceased by a son, Jimmer, siblings, William, Arthur, and J. Peter Hillier, Elizabeth Romans, Dorothy Burgio and Katherine Hillier.
Jean was a devoted communicant of the Holy Family Catholic Community at St. Mary's Church in Dansville. She was a former receptionist at Hornbeck Optician in Dansville. She was a waitress at the former Brae Burn Recreation in Dansville. She also owned and operated Jean's Beauty Shop out of her home on Ossian St. In her free time she enjoyed going to yard sales, Sally Ann's Boutique, painting ceramics, and going to the casinos and playing the slot machines. As a child she was very proud of the fact that she swam across Conesus Lake.
She is survived by a daughter, Tish (John) Goho; a son, Robert (Karen) Bovee Jr., both of Dansville; a twin sister, Jane "Dolly" Caves; her dear friend Herkie Thompson; eight grandchildren: Todd (Lisa) Goho, Troy Goho, Jeremy (Kirsten) Bovee and Joshua (Clair) Bovee, and Danielle, Erika and Billy Ernst; three great-grandchildren Lydia Bovee, Matthew and Allison Goho; her beloved friend Dutchess; and many, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Friends may call Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at the Hindle Funeral Home Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Dansville. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dansville. Online remembrances may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Vincent House, 310 Second Ave., Wayland, NY 14572.
