Brian Mitchell Obituary

Brian Ladd Mitchell passed on to a New Life on January 22, 2011, at St Francis Hospital in Topeka Kansas, after a long, debilitating illness.
He was born at Wesley Hospital in Oklahoma City on June 3, 1957, to Rodney Martin Mitchell and Anne McKinne (Higgins) Mitchell.
Brian's early education was in Emporia, Kansas, where he attended Village and Walnut Elementary Schools and Lowther Junior High School. He graduated from Hartford High School in Hartford, KS in 1975, where he lettered in football, basketball, cross country and track. Upon graduation, he entered the United States Coast Guard, and was stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii, where he participated in many rescue missions in high seas of the Pacific. He later attended Oklahoma State University in Stillwater. He worked as a chef, restauranteur, and salesman during his working years.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ralph Martin and Margaret Gertrude (Fox) Mitchell and John Edgar and Edith Dupre'(Robertson) Higgins.
He is survived by his wife, Tammy Ann (Schwartz)Mitchell, and one son, Jacob Martin Mitchell of the home in Oklahoma City, and, a daughter, Marcia Renee' Mitchell Standard, of Tampa Bay, Florida; two brothers, Martin Drake Mitchell of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and Hillman Scot Mitchell of Sammamish, Washington, and a sister, Gay Lynne Mitchell of Bartlesville, OK , and his parents of Seminole, Ok. He, also, leaves behind many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends who will miss him very much.

A Memorial Service, to celebrate Brian's life, is scheduled to be held at the John M. Ireland Funeral Home and Chapel at 120 South Broadway in Moore, OK on Thursday, January 27th at 2:30 P.M.
