Carol Benoit Obituary

Carol Millikin Benoit, 77 passed away at home, on May 7, 2016. She lived in Bartlesville for most of her childhood and graduated from College High in 1955. Carol married Ed Benoit in 1958 and they immediately moved to Canada. Ed worked as a Geologist with Phillips Petroleum Company and they spent the next 26 years of their marriage overseas moving to 8 different countries, spanning 5 Continents. Carol gave freely of her time to many volunteer, charitable and community organizations. She served as an officer for several American Women's Associations in various countries. Carol was an avid bridge teacher and player and was involved with the Girl Scouts and Theater. She was responsible for the theatrical lighting and design on multiple school and community productions. Carol was a natural when it came to enjoying the opportunities that living internationally offered her.
Upon their return to the United States in 1984 she began to work as a stained glass artist. Her accomplishments include a piece dedicated to the victims of the Oklahoma City bombing which was presented to the Governor of Oklahoma and now resides as a treasure of the people of Oklahoma in the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum. She worked for a stained glass art studio for over 20 years, specializing in both custom and restoration work. Her pieces, can be found gracing not only private homes but also include the restoration of stained glass windows found in a Governor's mansion as well as churches and synagogues across the Mountain and Plains states. Carol's pieces were also exhibited in several juried glass shows. Carol will be remembered for her keen intelligence, elegant entertaining and for being a gifted contributor to the visual and performing arts.
She was preceded in death by her mother Ardath Millikin and her husband Edward Benoit. Carol is survived by her daughters Katherine L. Benoit and Karen Benoit, her grand-daughter Raelyn E. Benoit, her brother Bill Millikin, his wife Vicky and their family, as well as a large extended family including Brett and Kim Butterfield. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends across the globe.
