Clarence LeRoy ""Roy"" Blank

1919 - 2014

Clarence LeRoy "Roy" Blank passed away at Heritage Villa Nursing Home, Bartlesville, Oklahoma, on January 15, 2014 at 4:30 PM at the age of 94.
Roy Blank was born in Guthrie, Oklahoma on October 15, 1919 to Clarence Lavern Blank and Lula Ella (Eastwood) Blank. He attended Guthrie public schools, graduating from Guthrie High School in 1937. He was an active member of the Boy Scouts, Troop 64, during his high school years. Roy earned an Associates Degree from Hill's Business College, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He married Marjorie Maxine Helf on July 25, 1941 in Coyle, Oklahoma.
Roy worked at the Fairmont Creamery in Guthrie and for Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas. He joined Phillips Petroleum Company in 1945 and worked positions in Borger, Texas, Akron, Ohio and finally in Bartlesville. During his career at Phillips, Roy began as a Chief Clerk in 1945, became a Warehousing and Shipping Supervisor in 1948, an office Manager in 1951, Administrative Assistant to the Sales Manager in Marketing Services in 1955, a Staff Specialist in 1963 and in 1965, Manager of Marketing Services in the Rubber Chemicals Division. Roy retired from Phillips Petroleum in March of 1982.
Roy loved golf, his family and a good nap! He was a member of the USGA and received first place in the 1989 Adams Golf Course Byron Nelson Flight Club Championship. A 162-yard hole-in-one made his day on October 16, 1990 on the 12th hole at the Adams course! He was a member of the Green Country Senior Golf Association and enjoyed organizing, traveling and participating in their many golf tournaments. He and his wife, Marjorie, enjoyed traveling to visit family and watch their grandsons play baseball.
Roy was preceded in death by Marjorie in 2004. Other family members preceding his death include his parents, Clarence and Lula; three sisters, Ellen Hall, Mamie McCrory, Hazel Carmack; and two brothers, Vernon and Lee Blank. He is survived by his son, Michael Blank and his wife, Diane Blank, of Arlington, Texas; two daughters, Marsha Grimes and her husband, Norman Grimes, of St. Albert, Alberta, Canada, and Kerri Hampton and her husband, Jerry Hampton, of Bartlesville; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Memorial services for Mr. Blank will be at the Community Funeral Home, Memory Gardens Memorial Park, Guthrie, on Saturday, March 1, 2014, at 10:00 AM with Pastor Don Gatlin of Guthrie First Assembly officiating.
