David Glover Obituary

David Anthony Glover (Tony) 85, of Bartlesville passed away Friday morning at his home in Green Country Village. He was a beloved Husband, Father and Grandfather.
Tony was born August 8th, 1924 in Teddington, England, the son of Alfred Freeland Glover and Gertrude McVean Glover.
After receiving his education, he qualified as a Chartered Quantity Surveyor, and was transferred to East Africa to establish a new branch of his firm.
On May 30th, 1953 he married the love of his life, Agnes Mary Buswell (Mary) in Eldoret, Kenya. They had two children John and Sally.
While family always came first, Mr. Glover was responsible for growing the business into a multi-national company. He served as President of the Nairobi Rotary Club, and was a certified arbitrator for construction lawsuits.
He retired in 1996 to Hove, England. In 2008, Tony and Mary moved to Bartlesville to be closer to family.
He was described by everyone he met as a true English gentleman, with a great sense of humor. He was honest, kind and loved by his family all over the world.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Mary Glover of Bartlesville, OK; his son John and his wife Judy Glover, of Perth, Australia; his daughter Sally and her husband Jim Lindsey, of Bartlesville, OK; by grandchildren Lisa Barnes of Broken Arrow, OK; Rachel Barnes of Norman, OK; Richard Glover of Carnarvon, Australia and Andrew Glover of Mt. Isa, Australia; by step-grandchildren Ryan Lindsey of Bartlesville, OK and Brooke Lindsey of Phoenix, AZ.

I first met Tony in 1950 or so when Margaret and I were visiting Bill (? Goss) a young Quantity Surveyor in a flat above a petrol station. Tony was his flat-mate and had recently arrived from England before going to Nairobi.
A few years later Tony and Mary were back in Uganda and we all became friends when Mary discovered that John and our Marilyn, toddlers, were playing together and came to see Margaret.
There are fond memories of fishing at Entebbe in Lake Victoria and of Tony and me being scalped by Mary and Margaret when playing mah-jongg since they were very able players and we were amateurs in comparison . There are many other good memories of days of yore.
Tony was the quintessential Englishman- honourable and loyal- and fun to be with. What more need be said?
We read that there is a time to be born and a time to die. That may be so but while the mind says one thing , the heart says an other. My thoughts are with you Mary, Sally and John.
