Born in Pawhuska, Oklahoma on September 6, 1952 to J.D. and Sue (Whitehorn) Couch, Jimmy Dee was raised on his grandparent's ranch and educated in his birth community, graduating from Pawhuska High School in 1969. After graduation, Jimmy Dee enjoyed riding bulls and team roping, especially with his brothers Tracy and Danny. Jimmy Dee started dealing in livestock-- he worked for numerous ranches and feed lots, and was a buyer for Wayne Couch Cattle Company.
Jimmy Dee is described by his family as "Quiet and private, but a rough-cut cowboy". He loved horse racing and was a huge sports fan. He and Jason enjoyed going to the Ben Johnson Memorial Steer Roping on Father's Day whenever they could. Jimmy Dee also enjoyed his get-aways to Bossier City for some gambling and Louisiana Downs to watch the ponies.
This loving father and grandfather will be missed by all who knew him. Jimmy Dee is survived by his son Jason Mitchell of Pryor; grandson Jett Mitchell; sisters Jackie Dale Urie and husband Doug, Sandra Brace, Pam Couch-Bevis, Stacey Melton and husband Derek, brothers Tracy Lee Couch and Danny Couch and wife Krystal, and sister Mandi Sue Gilmore and husband Kevin; numerous nieces and nephews, including special nephews, Jon, Josh and Jeremy Brace and countless friends.
