Johnnie Miller Obituary

Johnnie Dee (Kampert) Miller passed away December 12, 2015, surrounded by her loving family, following a lengthy battle with Parkinson's disease. Johnnie was born May 20, 1931, to George and Edna Kampert in Topeka, Kansas. Her father was a pharmacist and farmer with a love of antiques. This passion of collecting was passed on to Johnnie and would continue throughout her life. She graduated from Frankfort High School and attended one year at an all-women's college, Monticello. She met John Miller, the man of her dreams, and they married August 6, 1954. They had three daughters, and together, they instilled the ideals of getting a college education, hard work, kindness, love for family, respect for others, and a belief in God and naturally a love for antiques. She turned her antique hunting into a little thriving business for years. Her kindness and compassion for others spread into working for Bartlesville nonprofit agencies. She served as a Girl Scout leader for nine years, held several offices within the Salvation Army and supported her husband through his involvement with the Elks Lodge and was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church. She also was an avid reader, loved camping, going to the lake and traveling. She and her husband were able to take many wonderful trips with her brother and sister-in-law and friends to Greece, Russia, Alaska and Sweden. But more importantly, she loved her husband, three daughters, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
She is preceded in passing by her parents, one brother and one grandson.
Johnnie leaves behind, her husband, John; daughter Kathy Ellis, son-in-law Russell, grandchildren Erika Ellis, Lendi Ellis, husband David Bushong and great grandson Riley Weed, daughter Cheryl King, son in law Brad King, two grandsons Kacy and Kolton King; daughter, Kristina Dudley, son-in-law Dayne Dudley, granddaughter, Kelsey Sanchez, husband, Luis Sanchez and great granddaughter, Lennon Sanchez and granddaughter Courtney Dudley.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 15, 2015 from 1:00 PM until service time at 2:00 PM at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Miami with Reverend Dwight Moeller officiating. Interment will follow at the Ottawa Indian Cemetery under the care of Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Miami.
The family has asked that memorial contributions be made to the Salvation Army.
Friends and family may send the family notes of encouragement by viewing, Mrs. Miller's Tribute Page at www.brown-winters.com.
