Ronald Joe Jared was born March 29, 1941 in Ada, OK. He was the son of Howard and Bonnie Jared of Allen, OK.
After suffering a stroke on Thanksgiving night, Ron passed away at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa. Ron was 71 years old and resided in Bartlesville. Ron attended Allen Public Schools and was active in the marching band and the football team. After high school, Ron attended East Central University in Ada. He graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Instrumental Music and a Master's Degree in Counseling. He later received principal and superintendent certifications from the University of Oklahoma. Ron also was a member of the Oklahoma National Guard for fifteen years.
Ron married Linda Kay Walker on January 31, 1964 in Allen, OK. They established their family home in Maud, OK where he was High School Band Director. They moved to Wynnewood, OK spending thirteen years, where Ron served as Band Director, Counselor and Middle School Principal.
In 1977 Ron and Kay, with daughter Rachel, moved to Bartlesville where Ron began work at Jared Homes. Ron was also involved in real estate before returning to education as Assistant High School Principal at Bartlesville Public Schools and then Mid-High Principal for ten years. Following his retirement from Bartlesville, Ron was hired as Assistant Superintendent for the Public Schools in Fayetteville, AR serving for five years. Returning to Oklahoma, Ron worked for one year as Bartlesville Schools Assistant Superintendant and filled in as a High School Counselor.
In 2001, Ron, his brother Roger and sister Phyllis, established Jareds' Frozen Custard where Ron had great fun interacting with employees and customers. Ron was an avid lover of music and supporter of music education in the public schools. In the 1990's, he was named State Administrator of the Year for OMEA. He was an active member of East Cross United Methodist Church and served as a choir member for many years. Ron recently began volunteering with "Bridges out of Poverty" and was an adoptive grandpa at Oak Park Elementary School. Ron worked hard to support young people working to further their education and enjoyed helping others in the community. He was a mentor and friend to many young educators and students.

What a sad day to hear of Ron's passing. I had the privilege of working with him on program to assist students who were at risk of not graduating from high school. My children also attended school while he was principal. He listened and had a generous heart. I appreciated everything he brought to the table. But the thing that always impressed me the most was if kids from his school were performing somewhere he was always there. He was a wonderful man and educator and showed his commitment with his time.

Ron was a prince, as a person and as a school administrator. The world is a poorer place because he's no longer in it. I'll miss him.

Kay and family, what a sad time for you-I know you and so many others in Bartlesville will miss Ron so much.
What a wonderful man, wonderful smile, and always so kind and thoughtful with everyone. A true gentleman who always knew how to use a quiet voice to help others.
Praying for the Lord's peace and courage as you face each day without his physical presence.

Please accept my condolences on the passing of Ron. I remember him to be an incredibly nice person. He was a great administrator and cared about people. I worked at West Campus at Fayetteville during his time here as Assistant Supt. of Sec. Ed. Those of us that remember him in the district are saddened by his loss. May the Lord bless your family. I know how hard it is to not only lose a father, but to lose them during a holiday time. I lost my dad to cancer during Thanksgiving.

Linda Kay and Roger,
I will always be greatful for the friendship Ron gave me and his smile that made me want to smile. I guess God can always use another Allen Mustang to keep our spirit high and our focus on what he wants us to be. Ron sure is a focal point of what is good. I will miss him at the Alumni, but thankful I got to visit with all of you this year. God Bless!

Our prayers go out to all of you at this time - Mr Jared was such an awesome person, and helped my brother and I so much in school, as well as creating such a beautiful home for us to live in when we moved here. I got to know Ron when he filled in as interim principal at Washington Elementary. He and I are both "old school" and I loved his stories about his many experiences as a teacher and principal. Ron was loved and respected by both students and colleagues. He will be missed.
