Sharon Cates Obituary

Sharon Kay Cates, 69, resident of Bartlesville, died at 2:11 P.M. on Saturday in Bartlesville.
Memorial Services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Friday at the First Baptist Church in Bartlesville with Rev. Martin Witt officiating. Cremation Arrangements are under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
Mrs. Cates was born on June 20, 1945 at Bartlesville, Oklahoma to Lloyd Winifred and Dorothy Maxine (Burruss) Liston. She was raised and received her education here in Bartlesville Public Schools. She was married to Toby Cosar, to that union three daughters were born Renee, Karen and Traci. She was later married to Emmett Van to that union 2 children were born April and Fred. Along with that union she gained two more children Dave and Karen Sue. She and Edward Leon Cates were married on September7, 1990 at Tulsa, and they made their happy home here in Bartlesville for the past 24 years.
She had worked most of her life as a Housekeeper for several businesses, and for First Baptist Church, and Kenneth Adams family.
She is survived by her husband Ed Cates of the home, five daughters, Karen Sue Robinson and husband Ronnie of Bartlesville, Renee Ward and husband Kevin, of Bartlesville, Karen Bryce and husband Jason of Bartlesville, Traci Butler and husband Kenny of Collinsville, April Thennes and husband Dustin of Bartlesville. by two sons, Dave Van and wife Deborah of Claremore, OK., and Fred Van and wife Shara of Bartlesville; three sisters, Phyllis Miller, Patricia Brown, and Ruth Meyers, and a brother Fred Liston, by 25 grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Alvin Liston, by a step brother Ray Brinsfield, by her 2nd husband Emmett Van, and by a grandson Logan Nye.
