William Reeder Obituary

Mr. William Lane "Bill" Reeder, 86, of Bartlesville, died at 5:20 A.M. on Friday, December 5, 2014 in Bartlesville.
Funeral services for Mr. Reeder will be held at 11 A.M. on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at the Dewey Church of Christ with Mr. Robert Hamm and Mr. Tony Lalli officiating. Interment will be in the Dewey Cemetery where full military rites will be accorded by the Ceremonial Detail of the James H. Teel American Legion Post # 105. Funeral services and interment are under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
A memorial fund has been established and those who wish may send their contributions to the Hope Harbor Children's Home, P.O. Box 1047, Claremore, Oklahoma, 74018.
Mr. Reeder was born at Selmer, Tennessee on June 21, 1928 the son of John Lanie Reeder and Luda M. (Richard) Reeder. He grew up and received his education at Selmer and graduated from Selmer High School in 1946. He served with the United States Air Force from 1946 until 1949 when he received his Honorable Discharge. He attended Louisiana State University at Baton Rouge and later the DeVry Technical Institute in Chicago. He was married to Margaret Yvonne Weatherford on April 25, 1953 at Corinth, Mississippi. They made their home in Chicago for one year and then in Selmer, Tennessee from 1954 until 1956. They moved to Bartlesville to make their home in 1956 and Mr. Reeder was employed with Phillips Petroleum Company as a lab technician in the Research Department until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of the Dewey Church of Christ for 58 years. He loved to play golf, watch sports and take pictures. Mr. and Mrs. Reeder enjoyed traveling the United States visiting most of the state capitols and lighthouses whenever possible. Mr. Reeder never met a stranger and was always quick to start up a conversation with anyone he met.
Mr. Reeder is survived by his wife, Margaret Reeder of Bartlesville, one son, Kyle Lane Reeder and wife Carolyn of Katy, Texas, four grandsons, Michael Reeder, Jon Reeder and wife Jennifer, David Reeder and wife Jean and Matthew Reeder and one great granddaughter, Elise Reeder, a niece, Theresa Ruttgen and a nephew, Michael McClure. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Bobbye McClure.
