Lawrence Fields Obituary

Lawrence Howard "Larry" Fields, 93, of Independence, MO passed away at home in his sleep on April 21, 2021.

Larry was born and raised in Independence, Missouri on May 2, 1927 to parents Leslie and Elvie Fields. Right after graduation, he joined the United States Coast Guard, where he proudly served for over a year. After his discharge, Larry went on to college in Marshall, MO, graduating and became a teacher at Excelsior, MO and also Kearney, MO. In 1983, he retired to travel and antique along the way.

Larry is survived by his wife of 40 years, Billy Fields; one son, James (Lois) Fields and special niece, Ann Fields. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Alice Fields; brother, Mervin Fields and both parents, Leslie and Elvie Fields. Cremation is planned with no service at this time.

Larry will be laid to rest at Crown Hill Cemetery in Excelsior Springs, MO.

Larry was a great guy!! We taught and coached together at KHS. He was a people person for sure and lived a full and wonderful life. So many fond memories and that big old smile warms my heart. My wife Tonnie thought the world of Larry also.. Our best wishes to the family.. John and Tonnie Ball
