Willa Jeanne (Bowers) Toon, 88, passed away Friday, Feb. 6, 2026, at Truman Lake Manor, Lowry City, MO. She was born on Aug. 18, 1937, in Kansas City, MO to Mancel and Dorothy Bowers, who preceded her in death along with her sister, Mary Ann (Bowers) Casey and great-granddaughter Veva Molloy.

She married John T. Toon on June 18, 1983. He preceded her in death in 2015.

She is survived by: her children Robert (Cheri) Messer of Warsaw, MO; David (Cindy) Messer of Osceola, MO; Jill (John) Daugherty of Bogard, MO; and one brother-in-law Gary Casey of Independence, MO. 8 grandchildren; Michael Messer, Samantha Malone (Lana Viron), Vincent (Melinda) Deason, Robert Deason (Rachel Zouahk), Sherree Kratzer (Bill Waters), Christal (Jim) Rust, Ashley (Cody) Pittman, Kristine (Alex) Molloy, 12 great-grandchildren, 17 great- great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Willa was a rural mail carrier for Independence, MO for many years, Willa and John were very active in the churches they attended. They also volunteered at Baptist Camp Windermere for many years. They loved traveling to different parts of the country to see the beauty of God's creation. Willa loved making quilts, and made several of them for family members.

Funeral service for Mrs. Toon will be on Monday, February 16, 2026 at 11:00 am at Funeral Services of Independence. Visitation will be from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at the chapel. Entombment at Valor Park Memorial Gardens.

Arrangements conducted by Funeral Services of Independence. Condolences may be shared on our website.
