Thomas “Tommy” Toon, 95, of Utica, passed away Friday, June 27, 2025, at his home while under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky. He was born July 28, 1929, in Adairville, KY. to the late Breman Toon and Jennie Anderson Good.
Tommy proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of Owensboro Christian Church and was retired from South Central Bell with 31 years of service. After retirement he worked part-time at Sears in the hardware department and operated a food truck, serving countless people at Kurtz Auction and Realty. Tommy was an avid gardener and Kentucky Wildcat fan. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Hilda Jean Toon.
Tommy is survived by two sons, Roger Toon (Alisa) of Bowling Green and Jeff Toon of Nevada, two daughters, Debbie Petit (Phil) and Angie Hardin both of Lexington; 8 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held Noon, Monday July 21st, 2025, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, officiated by his grandson, Tyler Toon. Visitation will be Monday July 21st, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. The entombment will be in Christ Chapel at Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky, 3419 Wathen’s Crossing Owensboro, KY 42301.
