Virgil Toon, born August 31, 1934, left this world June 23, 2025. He was a man who loved his life and lived with a positive attitude. He worked hard, but enjoyed the time with his co-workers at H.K. Porter / HBD Industries. His friends remember him as a good, decent man who was always willing to lend a helping hand if he could. He wasn’t one to look back or share much of his history. He lived each day as it came, always looking for the best it had to offer. He was proud to have served in the Navy as a young man, but his focus was on each day as it came his way.
The day Yu Lan came into his life, he knew he had found the love of his life. He cherished her, loved her, and protected her every day that they shared.
He developed some health issues in his later years, but he did not let that stop him from living and loving each day. He and his beloved Yu Lan could be seen about town, eating at the Grain Bin or the New China restaurants, right up to his last days on earth.
He will be missed by his many friends and his beloved spouse. Fly High, Virgil, until we meet again.
Virgil will be laid to rest at Buffalo Cemetery, Buffalo, KS, on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.
Memorials are suggested to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis or Shriners Hospital for Children, and can be mailed to or left with the funeral home.
