SUSAN BARRETT Obituary

SUSAN BARRETT 11/07/1948 - 10/13/2025 Susan "Sue" Barrett, of Independence, Missouri, passed away peacefully on 13 October 2025, surrounded by family and close friends. Born 7 November 1948 in Michigan to John Joseph and Nealie Mae (Moorehead) Gaitley, Sue dedicated much of her later working years to serving others through the Community of Christ Church, where she built lasting friendships and touched countless lives with her kindness, faith, and working with youth. She is survived by her children Robert Grammatico (Theresa Overcast), Scott Gaitley (Yareli Esteban), and Jeanine Robinson; her sister Rhonda Skladanowski (Richard); her sister-in-law, Judy (Gaitley) Alvarez; grandchildren Evan, Vicki, Cheyanne, Bella, Nora, and Aggie; great-grandchildren Lincoln, Ellie, and Flynn; and extended family in Michigan. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother Michael Gaitley. A Celebration of Life will be held in Michigan next year. In lieu of flowers, the family invites those wishing to honor Sue's memory to perform a small act of kindness in their own community.

Sue and I were close for many years but I hadn´t seen her the past few years. Thank you Linda and Scott for reaching out to me. I regret not seeing her when I had the chance. My thoughts and prayers are with you Scott and Jeannie and your beautiful children
