Mr. Sylvestro was one of the best people when I was a student. He was a great athlete and coach, and he was very much like the obituary says, "most comfortable in a blue blazer, Oxford shirt, khakis, and tie." He was the ultimate guy's guy, and every little boy wanted to be just like him.

Deb: I'm so sorry the learn of the loss of your husband and soulmate. I know you two faced a long and difficult struggle and that your strength helped Steve to keep going. Sadly you now face your own struggle to continue on. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you during the sad and difficult time.

Oh, Deb. We are so sorry to hear this news. Steve was a good, good man. We were so fortunate to meet you both at the Southport Racquet Club. Such a great group of friends. And I can't even count how many times he and I saw each other out on the roads, logging miles. Sending much love to you and your family. God bless Steve.

I knew Steve at Assumption Prep in Worcester. He was an amazing leader, so talented yet so giving. He made friends easily and deeply. His departure will leave a vacuum difficult to fill.

Steve. What a special person. One of the kindest people I've ever known. He will be missed by so many including myself. I hope he is in a place of peace now. I'm thinking of his amazing family and good friends who are so sad with grief and I wish them my deepest sympathies and love.

We find ourselves not able to put into words the sadness we feel today. Steve was a light in our lives and for many years we would see him driving around Fairfield in his red Miata and beautiful white hair glowing in the breeze ,with his beautiful wife Debby, her hair in a hat and a big blonde ponytail waving from behind.
How many years did Debby and I work out at the Southport athletic club and you had dinner waiting and ready for Debby? You’re a good man, a happy man and may you rest eternally happy. Send your love shining down to us on earth.
God bless you Steve. Love, Kurt and Helen

My thoughts are with the Sylvester family. I enjoyed working with Steve in the early years of Eagle Hill Southport. He was an energetic, child-centered educational leader. May the close family spirit that Steve fostered comfort you in the weeks ahead.

Steve,
Thank you for your friendship, guidance and kindness. To Steve’s loved ones may your memories of him always put a smile on your face.
See his bare back and mane if white hair as he runs down the lane ahead of us all. Miss you my friend.

Deb, Davey and Lea...
Fondly remembering the “hungry years” in Hardwick where Christopher was the adored “campus kid” and a large bottle of Mateus and a bag of chips was a dinner party.
Rest well, old friend.
Life has to end. Love doesn’t.

It is with a heavy heart and tears that I send my deepest condolences to Debby, Christopher, Trevor and the entire Sylvestro family. Steve was a mentor, an ally, a supportive peer and always a friend during my seventeen years as school nurse at Eagle Hill. On many occasions we would combine forces to counsel, discipline, care for and calm down a
student in need. Steve’s wit, sensitivity and honesty kept his students always on the right path. Due to similar athletic interests my family grew to know and so enjoy Steve and Debby, always seeing them as the super athletic duo. We all send our love and forever memories of an awesome man.

My deepest sympathies to both the Sylvestro and Miller families. I would see him at Aunt Nancy's Thanksgiving Dinners and my memory is of how very proud he was of his two sons.

Steve was always the best company imaginable in any setting and a great colleague as a teacher, counselor, and administrator at school. He and Mike met as teens at the Cape, and they were supposed to live together until he prudently married and lived with Deb at Hardwick instead. He sang with Deb, Davey, and Lenny at our wedding, and Mike ran with him on their memorable and never-duplicated Harwich to Chatham Beach and Harbor Run. His life was admirable, full, and well-lived but his loss is heartbreaking.

I often wondered where Stephen was ...we were classmates at Thorndyke Road School ....and I had hoped that we would someday catch up at some time. He always had a wonderful smile . It is nice to see what he accomplished and that his journey has been successful and enjoyed. I am so sad for your loss. May your memories of wonderful times stay with you forever

I often and just recently thought of Stephen and wondered where he might be. We were in the same classes at Thorndyke Road School. ...and lost contact through different high school. I had hoped that we would catch up at some time. He always had a smile. It is so nice to read of his journey and his happiness. ..So sad to hear of his early departure.. I will remember him from when we were young

He was my lab "buddy" in biology at Assumption, and he was such a cheerful, lovely person. (Our bio teacher, Mr. Kenney, used to call him as "Bart" - as in "Bart Starr," the famous quarterback of the Green Bay Packers - a reference to Steve's on-field exploits as a football player at Assumption). I am personally devastated to learn of his death, and I extend to his family, on my and my family's behalf, the deepest and sincerest of condolences. I so looked forward to seeing him at our delayed 50th Reunion next September. "Sling that pigskin, Bart!"
