LARRY LOCKLEAR
LUMBERTON — Larry Locklear, 64, of Lumberton, gained his heavenly wings while at home surrounded by family and loved ones on Saturday, May 21, 2022.
Larry was born on April 13, 1958, in Scotland County, to the late James Franklin and Margie Lee Locklear.
Larry was best known for his strong-willed, tireless, industrious personality. Rarely would you hear, "I love you" roll from his lips; however, he was a man that spoke with his actions. Larry's actions proved him to be an honest and loving spouse, father, sibling and friend. Larry remained dedicated to being a hard-working man and provider for his family. Larry pulled out with his crew every Sunday at 4 p.m. to perform his duties as a construction worker, until four weeks ago when he was forced to retire because of battling cancer.
Larry is preceded in death by two brothers, James Locklear "Pap," and Barry Locklear; and a sister, Wanda Locklear.
Larry is survived by the love of his life of 47 years, Tammie Hunt; four sons, Larry Jr. (Eusabia), Charles Ben (Heather), Kevin Terrell, and Ryan Larrell; one daughter, Tanesha Denise (Brett); one special granddaughter of the home, Brielle Denise; 11 grandchildren, Hayden, Malicha, Reanna, Kasey, Keanna, Larry III, Mariana, Cayleyana, Takoda, Felicity, and Tristan; one sister, Janice Lowery; and a host of extended family and friends.
Larry confessed with his lips and believed in his heart that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins. Larry was baptized on Friday, May 20, 2022. Larry has walked the pearly white gates of Heaven to claim his mansion in paradise.
A funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 26, 2022, at Revels Funeral Home Lumberton. The burial followed at Lumbee Memorial Gardens. The family received friends 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday, May 26, 2022, at Revels Funeral Home Lumberton, prior to the funeral.
