Andrew Dean Obituary

Faribault - Andrew J. Dean, age 50 of Faribault, died on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at his home.

Memorial services will be held at First English Lutheran Church, Faribault on Thursday, October 2, 2025 at 11 a.m. with the Reverend Mark Johnson officiating. Interment will be at Maple Lawn Cemetery, Faribault.

Memorial visitation will be at Boldt Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Faribault on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 from 4 to 7 p.m. and also at church for one hour prior to the service on Thursday.

Andrew J., the son of James and Linda (Berg) Dean, was born July 19, 1975, in Faribault. He attended Lincoln Elementary and Faribault Junior and Senior High Schools, graduating in 1996. During that time he participated in every sport offered by Special Olympics enjoying bowling, swimming, basketball, track and softball. He was able to compete at the International level in swimming (1991) and cycling (1999). Andy loved working. He started out at Pizza Hut for a few years, but his career peaked at McDonalds where he became the french fry cook and retired after 22 years. He appreciated the support he got there and the friends he made.

His personal life was highlighted by family and friends. He traveled often to see family and to visit NBA stadiums as basketball was his passion. He loved seeing his nieces pick up swimming like he did and cheered them on whenever he could.

Andy enjoyed living at home with his parents until his health issues required moving to a group home. He was fortunate to have Ericka and her team to take care of him with such loving care. His family is thankful for them and for Minnesota Hospice who came in with extra support.

He is survived by his parents, Jim and Linda Dean of Faribault; sister, Carrie (and Rob) Nelson of Maple Grove; nieces, Evelyn and Sophie Nelson; extended family including Brenda and Eric Thompson, Erin (and Cody) Ayres, Katie Thompson; Nancy Mears, Bill Mears, Steve (and Lizzie) Mears, Laura (and Aaron) Smith; Tricia (and Dave) Frank.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Kenneth and Marian Dean and Clarence and Doris Berg.

Memorial gifts in Andy's name may be directed to Special Olympics or the Day Activity Center, Faribault.

Our sympathy to Andy's family. I worked with Andy's Grandfather, Mr Berg at The State Bank of Faribault until his retirement and considered he and Doris as very special friends. Clarence and Doris were very proud of Andy and his accomplishments. Andy's family were very supportive throughout his life.
