John Meyers Obituary

John Richard, the son of Millard Richard and Fern Lucille (Brakke) Meyers, was born August 16, 1954, in Faribault. He enjoyed traveling, spending time with his family and being in the woods. John graduated from Morristown High School where he enjoyed time on the school wrestling team. On September 30, 1995, John was united in marriage to Karla Jean Richardson at the United Methodist Church in Morristown. They recently celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary. John worked alongside his dad and brother for Meyers and Sons Construction. He later worked for Nutting Truck and Caster Company and the Regional Center as a direct caregiver. In 1971, John and his parents created Camp Maiden Rock in Morristown. John and Karla continued to own and operate the campground upon his parents retirement. John was a conservationist and steward of the land. He enjoyed all of nature's beauty and spending time outdoors canoeing, planting trees, caring for animals, especially turtles and riding motorcycles. John was mentor to many, a talented woodcarver and a caregiver. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and raising Norwegian Elkhounds.
Survivors include his wife, Karla; his faithful dogs, Tula and Coco; siblings, Judy (and Allan) Altobell, Nancy (and Steven) Bechtold, Randy Meyers and Deidre (and John) Wagener; nieces and nephews, JoEllen (and Tim) Evavold, Laura Underberg, Brooke (and Randolph) Altobell, Katie (and Mike) Altobell-Resendez, Ryan (and Stacie) Bechtold, Nicole (and Roberto) Altobell, Derek (and Katie) Meyers, Ross Wagener and Lars Wagener; many great nieces and nephews and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Millard and Fern Meyers; brother, Noel Meyers in infancy, in-laws, LuVerne and Bertha Richardson and nephew-in-law, Pat Underberg.
