Faribault - Myrna J. Winjum, age 85 of Faribault, MN passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at Mill City Senior Living in Faribault following an extended illness.

Myrna Jean, the daughter of Maynard and Alice (Silkey) Hamann was born on March 6, 1940 in Northfield, MN. She attended Faribault High School and graduated with the class of 1958. On September 26, 1959 she was united in marriage to Roy Winjum at The Episcopal Cathedral of Our Merciful Saviour in Faribault. Myrna lived in Faribault her entire life. After their marriage she was a stay at home Mom and raised their four children. She also worked for the State of Minnesota at the State Hospital in Faribault for many years. While working for the State of Hospital, Myrna and Roy purchased Shady Acres Resort on Roberds Lake which together they have owned for 40 years. Over the next 30 years she was a staple at the resort; tending the bar, cleaning the cabins and helping in many ways to accomplish their vision. Her sparkling personality attracted many to visit her regularly for a friendly chat and friendship. While an accident limited Myrna from continuing to work, she and Roy purchased a home in Yuma, AZ to enjoy getting away from Minnesota in the winter months. Myrna enjoyed spending time with all of her family and especially her grandchildren. Throughout her life she enjoyed trips to Las Vegas to visit family, playing bingo, the piano, teaching Sunday School, her card club with close friends, reading, crossword puzzles, gardening, fishing, watching game shows, watching the Vikings, and playing Euchre with family on holidays. Myrna will be missed as she was loved deeply by her family, friends and her resort family.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Roy Winjum of Faribault, MN; by her children, Kathleen Ableman of Howard Lake/Faribault, MN and her children, Marcus Ableman of Faribault, MN and Jacob (Rachel) Ableman of Carson, NV; Pam Sartor of Faribault, MN and her son Bradlee Sartor of Faribault, MN; David (Helene) Winjum of Las Vegas, NV and their sons, Kyle and Blake Winjum of Las Vegas, NV; Jonathan (Camie) Winjum of Faribault, MN and their children, Brielle (Nick) Smith of Faribault, MN and Makinley (Garron) Hoffman of Yuma, AZ; by her brother, Marvin Hamann of Inver Grove Heights, MN; by her brother-in-law, Wayne Winjum of Faribault, MN; by sisters-in-law, Connie Winjum of Burnsville, MN and Nancy Winjum of Faribault, MN and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Maynard and Alice Hamann; Father and Mother-in-law, Roy and Gertrude Winjum; two brothers-in-law, Milton and Jack Winjum; and by three sisters-in-law, Ann Hamann, Patricia Winjum and Esther (Hunt) Winjum.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at The Episcopal Cathedral of Our Merciful Saviour in Faribault, with The Very Reverend James C. Zotalis, officiating. Interment will be held at Meadow Ridge Memorial Park, Faribault.

Memorial visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Thursday morning for one hour prior to services.
