Richard D. Hora

1939 - 2023

Faribault - Richard D. Hora (Dick), age 84, of Faribault, MN, passed away August 14, 2023, at Faribault Senior Living following an extended illness.

Dick was born on June 11, 1939, in Boone, Iowa, to Richard Lee and Lenore (Kruse) Hora. He graduated from Boone High School with the class of 1957 and attended Iowa State University. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Intrepid, based in Norfolk, VA. Dick was married to his high school sweetheart Marilyn Pesek on April 3, 1961, at Sacred Heart Church in Boone. He was the Director of Human Resources at Seagate for 30 years, and the business administrator at Divine Mercy Church in Faribault from 1994 until his retirement. He and Marilyn moved to Faribault in 1969. Dick was a member and Sergeant of Arms of the Faribault Sertoma Club, and a previous board member of the Faribault Senior Center. He enjoyed target shooting and was a member of the Rifle and Pistol Club. He also enjoyed woodworking, World War II history, fishing, and hunting. He and Marilyn were active members and volunteers at Divine Mercy Catholic Church. He always enjoyed spending time with his family and following the activities of his grandchildren.

He is survived by his four children and their families, Mark Hora of Northfield, Joseph (Penny) Hora of Acton, MA and their children, Madison, Elizabeth and John Hora, Kim (Dan) Zunker of Eden Prairie, MN and their children, Ryan and Alex Zunker (Julia Los), and Kathryn (Joe) Donahue of Faribault and their children, Kayla (Koy) Payne and their child Rem and new son due in September, Meagan (Jon Listul), and Mackenzie; his sister, Diane (Duane) Ely of Boone; sisters-in-law, Donna Pesek of Omaha, NE, and Marge (Bill) Cronin of Ashland, OR; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn; and parents, Richard Lee and Lenore.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive, Faribault. Interment will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Faribault with military honors provided by the Rice County Central Veterans Association.

Visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home, 1725 Lyndale Ave. N., Faribault, and on Tuesday for one hour prior to the services at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Faribault Senior Center or Divine Mercy Church in memory of Dick.
