Audrey Didow Obituary
FAYETTEVILLE - Mrs. Audrey E. Didow, of Fayetteville, passed away Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, in Carrol S. Roberson Hospice Center in Fayetteville. She was born April 4, 1919, in Little Falls, Minn., to Monty and Anna Wise, and was 93 years of age at her death. Her family moved to Montana where she met and married George Didow on May 10, 1940. After living in Chinook and Fairfield, Mont., she moved to Belle Fourche, S.D., with her husband and two sons, George Richard Didow and Donald Gordon Didow. Belle Fourche became home in 1948 where a daughter, Deanna Elaine Didow, was born, and the family continued living there until 1965. Mrs. Didow was active in her church, St. James Lutheran, as organist and teacher. She worked many years at the Farmers and Ranchers Co-op and during beet harvest at the U&I Sugar factory. She was a den mother for the Cub Scouts while her children were young. After living in Salt Lake City, Utah, for one year, the family settled in Moses Lake, Wash. She kept active at Immanuel Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir. She worked as a bookkeeper at a doctor's clinic and for many years at Crestview Nursing Home. Her husband passed away in 1990 after celebrating 50 years of marriage, and she continued living in Moses Lake until 2000, when she moved to North Carolina to be with her daughter and son-in-law, Phillip Smith. Mrs. Didow was an active member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church in Fayetteville, enjoyed crocheting and tatting, working crossword puzzles and keeping in touch with family and friends. Mrs. Didow is survived by her son, Richard (Carol Franke) of Houston, Texas; daughter-in-law, Gail Snoozy of Spearfish, S.D.; daughter, Deanna (Phillip Smith) of Hope Mills; grandchildren, Joei, Staci, Stephanie, Shana and Shane; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Cody, Riley, Quinn, Drake, Zoe, Grady, Reese, Sawyer and Jace; brother-in-law, Orel Courteau of Pasco, Wash.; sister-in-law, Jeanice Wise of Richland, Wash.; and numerous nieces and nephews. The deceased was preceded in death by her husband George Didow; a son, Don Didow; a brother, Nester Wise; and two sisters, Mary Anne Blevins and Cherry Courteau. Memorials may be sent to Mount Pisgah Baptist Church, 3350 Butler Nursery Road, Fayetteville, NC 28348 Arrangements are being made through Rogers and Breece Funeral Home of Fayetteville. Memorial and graveside rites will held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Richland. A memorial service will take place at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church in Fayetteville, at a later date. Services entrusted to Rogers and Breece Funeral Home.
