Charles Weber Obituary

Charles F. Weber
Fayetteville—Charles F (Chuck) Weber of Fayetteville, Linville Ridge and Ponte Vedra, Florida passed away peacefully at his mountain house on Sunday, June 20, 2021. He was 73 years old. He had fought a long and courageous battle with cancer. His gregarious nature, positive attitude and unrelenting determination were abundantly obvious in his arduous struggle. Chuck was the son of Eldred ("Red") Weber and Betty Weber. "Red" was a career Army Officer stationed around the world and his family followed him. While in Fayetteville, Chuck attended Seventy First High School but left there to go to the Panama Canal Zone, where he finished High School and then went into Junior College in Panama. After two years, he transferred to the University of Florida, where he graduated with a degree in Real Estate Management. After college he traveled extensively, winding up in Australia for several years. He then returned to Fayetteville, where he began his Real Estate career. He began as an Agent with Century 21 Odyssey Realty until he joined with his mother to form Century 21 Weber Realty. It was here that he began his Development career. His first venture was Applewood Village Apartments, a 56 unit Short-Stay Property that was built and managed by his Company. His next project was beginning to demonstrate his keen business sense, a trademark that carried through the rest of his life. He designed and built Stewarts Creek Condominium , a 325 unit Complex which had never been done in Fayetteville at that time. A bold move and greatly successful. At the conclusion of that venture, he went into Single Family Residential construction, but quickly realized that this wasn't professionally satisfying as Multi-Family development. He realized that there were a lot of apartment Communities in Fayetteville but there was a shortage of High-End communities. Many of his associates felt that Fayetteville was not a market for this type of construction. However, just like the Condominium idea, he disagreed, and so he began building the most beautiful, trend setting Apartment Communities in the area _ totaling 1777 units in 6 different communities.
Chuck loved life and believed in living it to the fullest. His drive was not only evident in his professional life, but in his private life, as well. He loved music, a passion that began in high school and followed into college. In those days, he was a Drummer for a Band they called The Castaways. The Band played for all of the youth parties of that time. The Band all stayed in contact with one another over the years and later reformed to play at several Panama reunions. This love of music led Chuck to find and develop a love of the Carolina Shag, a regional dance, not only the dance but all of the social aspects that surrounded it with all of his very close friends that also shared his love of it. He also had a great passion for the game of golf and spent a lot of time sharing that passion with friends and constantly trying to improve his game. Chuck loved his friends and they in turn loved him. Chuck loved a good time and a great laugh and the thing that brought the biggest smile to his face was a good practical joke. He was best known for them and all of his friends he was always looking for an opportunity.
Chuck was preceded in death by his Father, "Red" Weber, his Mother Betty Weber and his sister Vicki Coughlin. He is survived by his sister Sherri Rutledge (Kenneth), many nieces and Nephews, by his Beloved Partner Carol Strickland by his Labradoodle Charlie Francis, his devoted companion to the end.
There will be a private Funeral Service in Linville and his ashes will be scattered on the grounds of Lazy Bear Lodge, a phenomenal testament to his Design and Construction talents
Tributes to Chuck may be made to: MD Anderson Cancer Center Cancer, American Cancer Society, Mayo Clinic, Duke Hospital and the Cumberland County Foundation.

So sorry about his passing. I knew him by working on his projects at Moorman, Keizer and Reitzel, Inc. His apartment complexes he built were so beautifully done (Kings Cross, Kings Pointe, Addison Ridge, to name a few.
