Raleigh — Denzel Kadeem Cummings, 26, formerly of Laurinburg, passed November 3, 2019. Funeral: Noon on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at the Trinity Presbyterian Church. Visitation: prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. until noon at the church. Burial: Private interment at a later date.

Denzel and I met only once, over the phone, when he called to invite me to the rally on Thursday. But in that one conversation, his enthusiasm for the work that he was doing to make this world a better place came shining through. My heart breaks that we will not meet in person on this earth, but I know that we will meet again one day. On behalf of the Mecklenburg County Democratic Party, I send our love and prayers for peace to Denzel's family.
