Dustin Turner Obituary

WADE - Dustin Sean Turner, 18, of Wade, died Tuesday evening, June 4, 2013, while swimming with friends in the Cape Fear River. Dustin was preceded in death by his father, Steve Turner. He is survived by his mother, Sandy Turner of the home; brother, Wesley Turner of the home; brother, Steven Carl Turner and his wife, Sara, of Fayetteville; maternal grandmother, Margaret Leal of Fayetteville; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Dustin, a graduating senior at Cape Fear High School, was an honor roll student who excelled in multiple areas of interest. He was very involved in the school's agricultural education program as well as the auto service technology program. Expecting to receive his diploma just two days following his accidental death, Dustin already had plans for his bright future: he was prepared to enroll in FTCC later this week, where he would study to become a fire and rescue worker. Dustin will always be remembered as a loyal son, brother and friend with a good sense of humor and a big heart. He was fun-loving like Michelangelo, his favorite Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, and had a special way of making others laugh and smile and just feel good. He was also smart - naturally excelling at the various hobbies he enjoyed, including sports, music and the outdoors. He was a hard worker with a strong determination to master anything he set out to do. Even before acquiring his full driver's license in April, Dustin had earned and saved enough to purchase his first truck. He was a fast learner, too - just as quick to ride the full 8 seconds on a bull as he was to teach himself to play his prized electric guitar. When it came to learning, he just had a natural knack for things. Tell him how to do something just once, and he would get it. If something needed to be assembled or repaired, Dustin didn't need the manual; he would figure it out. Dustin was most at home outdoors, whether at the beach or the river, where he loved to fish like his father had taught him as a small boy. Even so, he loved his friends and family more. And they know it. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight, Sunday, June 9, 2013, at Butler Funeral Home in Stedman. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, June 10, 2013, at the historic Old Bluff Church, 4132 Old Bluff Church Road, in Wade. Burial will follow at the cemetery there. Memorial contributions may be sent to Bluff Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund (designate Dustin Turner or Sandra Turner), P.O. Box 96, Wade, NC 28395. Services entrusted to Butler Funeral Home of Stedman.

My Dearest Sandra,
I am sorry for your loss and saddened that I wasn't there for you in your time of deepest grief. I cannot fathom the pain of losing a precious son who was such a promising young man. I hold onto the truth that Dustin is with God and that someday we all will be reunited with those that we love.
I remember what a sweet and beautiful young woman you were. It seems like a lifetime ago. I feel certain that you and your son shared those wonderful traits.
Rest in Peace young Dustin.

Dustin was a kind young man. My son had the privilege of having an Agriculture class with him this last semester of school. They worked together on a few projects and had much in common. He made a great impression on my son, something I am so thankful for. As parents, we want everyone that our children interact with to have a positive impact. Dustin did that. Mrs.Turner, you have so much to be proud of. Through your trials you raised an amazing boy. Love and Prayers for your family.

I don't know any of the family but can only offer my most sincere sympathy's as I have a son and daughter that could have been in your son's situation. Take comfort in knowing that you had a great son, brother and grandson that now resides with our heavenly father and any loved ones who went before him. Praying that God grants you peace and comfort at this time of need.
