Inez Powers Obituary

MARION, S.C. - Mrs. Inez Deaver Powers, of Marion, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. Mrs. Powers was born Sept. 10, 1923, to the late Samuel and Sarah Elizabeth Rowell Deaver of Marion. She also was predeceased by three sisters, Beaulah Boatwright, Elizabeth Baker Altman and Bessie D. Phillips. Mrs. Powers was a 1942 graduate of Marion High School and later attended Draughns Business College and Carolina College of Commerce. For many years, she was the owner/operator of Marion County Airport. She retired in 2001 as receptionist after 30 years at Diversified Plastics Inc. Surviving are her children, Cynthia P. Ross (David) of Fayetteville, N.C., and Robin Powers (Della) of Florence; a sister, Corrine Griffin of Durham, N.C.; and best friend of some 50 years, Monk Wilmoth of Florence. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, at Richardson Funeral Home in Marion. The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, an hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Marion Baptist Church, 106 S. Main St., Marion, SC 29571.
