Jerome Fleischmann Obituary

FAYETTEVILLE - Jerome "Jerry" Fleischmann, 76, the beloved son of the late Harry and Sorella Fleischmann, departed this life Friday, Feb. 13, 2009. Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Fay Fleischmann; two sons, Steven Fleischmann and Mark Fleischmann of Fayetteville; two daughters, Paula Crowe of Brunswick, Ga., and Michele Perdue of Castle Hayne; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He also is survived by two sisters, Barbara Sassano of Canisteo, N.Y., and Rita Wahba of Brooklyn, N.Y. He was predeceased by a brother, Lee Fleischmann of Las Vegas. Moving from Brooklyn, Jerry served in the United States Army, 82nd Airborne Division, from 1949 to 1952, ending his military career in Fayetteville, where he met his wife and lived during the remainder of his life. Following his term of service, Jerry was a self-employed entrepreneur. Services for Jerry will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 16, 2009, in Rogers and Breece Funeral Home chapel in Fayetteville, with Rabbi Yosef Levanon officiating. Following the services, Jerry will be laid to rest in Beth Israel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Jerome Fleischmann to Lung Cancer Research, c/o Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, 1638 Owen Drive, Fayetteville, NC 28304. Services entrusted to Rogers and Breece Funeral Home of Fayetteville.
