My thoughts and prayers are with The Edwards Family. My husband use to race in the six cylinder class some years ago. We were at Dublin when my husband went over the ralling. Porky was the first one who came by me and told me he would check him out and let me know what was going on. He did and he was the only one who gave me any information. I never forgot that act of kindness.

Many, many years ago, I raced with Jimmy at both Dublin and Fayetteville speedways. I was the only woman driving in the regular races with the "guys" and got some flack from some of them. (I wasn't very good but I had a good time doing it.) Jimmy always had helpful advise and suggestions. He was always encouraging even though it was obvious that I was not competitive. Jimmy was a good man... my thoughts and prayers are with you. Chris (Versch) Monticue

My friend "Porky" Jimmy Edwards Jr. you will be missed dearly. You were one of the first people I became friends with when I moved to North Carolina in August of 1989. I had only know 2 other people at the time. I had came across a new bar in Hope Mills "Porky's Checkered Flag" Being that my whole I have been a die hard race fan I had to check it out. That had became my new hang out. That is were I had the honor of meeting my good friend Porky and Sharon. They had made me feel right at home always. Porky and I would always talk about racing. He had known alot of the same people I knew in Maryland with racing,. Then in 1995 I moved back to Maryland for a few years returning to North Carolina in 1999. I didn't see them much until they opened Studio 48. After opening I hung there all the time and Porky and I got together every Sunday and watched the race if it were on tv at the bar. I would bring in chicken and sides to enjoy during the race. Porky being Porky would always joke around tell everyone I stayed up all night fix the chicken and I would only borrow the KFC boxes. We always enjoyed watching the race together. In 2004 they sold the bar. we started going out every weekend to different bars around town. We always had a good time when we went out together. I also loved to watch Porky race on the track I watched him in Fayetteville, Dublin, Wayne county. I started driving a truck in 2008 and wasn't able to spend as much time with them being that I am constantly on the road and out of town. But when I have been here I have always traced them down so we could get together. The last time I had the chance to enjoy there company together was New Years Eve 2011. I have talked to him on the phone since but haven't seen him since. My fried how I will miss you and look after Sharon during her time of loss. I I am sure going to miss you my racing buddy and very good friend.
