Jimmy Pridgen Obituary

RED SPRINGS - Jimmy Nash Pridgen, 58, of 108 Garner St., Red Springs, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, in Duke University Medical Center in Durham. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010, at First Baptist Church in Red Springs, with the Rev. Bradley Boberg and the Rev. Randy Locklear officiating. He will be laid to rest in Alloway Cemetery in Red Springs. Jimmy was born Nov. 7, 1951, in Lumberton. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Red Springs. Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife, Wanda Carol Pridgen; his daughter, Amie Pridgen of the home; Rob Woodcox of Red Springs; brother, Steve Pridgen of Raeford; sister, Kathy Daniels of Pinebluff; and mother-in-law, Ada Hill of the home. Jimmy was preceded in death by his father, Craven Nash Pridgen; his mother, Edna "Peggy" Pridgen; and brother Robert "Jerry" Pridgen. Jimmy grew up in Lumberton and later moved to Red Springs, where he graduated from Red Springs High School in 1970. He graduated from Richmond Community College in 2001, earning an associates degree in business. Jimmy was a former member of the N.C. National Guard and a volunteer fireman at Station 26 in Red Springs. He retired from Pilkington (LOF) Glass Plant in 2002. He established Jimmy's Discount Tire & Quick Lube and Jimmy's Wrecker Service in Red Springs in 2003. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today, Monday, Jan. 18, 2010, at Boles Funeral Home in Red Springs, and at other times at the home.

Wanda and Amy,

I will always remember how Jimmy could make your day better just be being Jimmy, always a smile and "How are you doing". I will miss my friend and I am sorry for not being able to be there during this time. My prayers are with you both .... and I know we will see him again in heaven.

My condolences to this entire family. While I have not seen Jimmy in many years, I have found memories of him. He always had a gracious smile for others and enjoyed life. May he receive God's blessing and I hope his family will rest in that assurance.
